Abstract: Time Dependent Variational Methods are a useful tool in understanding the quantitative and qualitative features of Solitary Waves in both Classical and Quantum domains. Here we discuss Solitary Wave Blowup in the Nonlinear Schrödinger equation, the global properties of Compact Solitary waves in Generalized Korteweg-DeVries systems and the scattering of relativistic quantum kinks as a model for particle production following the collision of two heavy ions.
