To construct better design and geometry of DPF for improving the filter efficiency, we need to examine the flow and pressure profiles in ceramic filter. However, it is difficult to
conduct measurements inside the filter, and parameters evaluated by experiments are limited. In this study, we have conducted Lattice Boltzmann simulation on flow in porous media. To obtain the complex structure of filter with small pore size, we have numerically formed porous media based on self-aggregated fluids. Then, we have simulated flow with particles in porous filter. Flow change
and pressure drop across the filter have been discussed. The chemical reaction is also included to consider the particle burning in the filter regeneration process.
