Derivation of the N-body wavefunction for a BEC: to higher dimensions and back again

W. Blake Laing
Department of Physics and Astronomy, The University of Oklahoma

A Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) formed from an ultracold alkali-metal gas of atoms whose interactions may be ``tuned'' by use of a Feshbach resonance provides an ideal environment to test fundamental atomic and N-body physics beyond the mean-field approximation. In this talk, I will discuss a recent extension of N-body dimensional perturbation theory (DPT) to first order and the derivation of the correlated N-body wavefunction. Graphs and symmetry are used to analytically determine the collective motions of the system.
