I will describe the physics of and recent advances in optical magnetometers. One recent area of application of these devices is signal detection in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magnetic-resonance imaging (MRI). As an example, I will describe our recent work on the zero-field measurements of the scalar ("J") couplings between hetero- and homonuclear spins in various molecules. Host: Michael Di Rosa |
