Mesh generation plays a key role in a wide variety of numerical simulations. The required computational resources during a flow simulation are mainly dictated by the utilized mesh generation technique and the associated data structure. We propose a novel mesh generation technique suitable for domains with multiple regions and can be implemented efficiently in a distributed memory environment. Our main goal is to efficiently produce an optimal sequence of meshes for the numerical simulations of unsteady viscous flow at high Reynolds number. Two-refinement templates are utilized in a fast dynamic remeshing procedure that preserves the quality of the mesh elements during an unsteady simulation. The resultant unstructured mesh is ready for a straight-forward application of multigrid methods. Several application examples are provided to show the strength of the proposed method.
