I will speak about some current research at Imperial College London on variational and geometric methods in image processing and analysis. Applications include Computer Tomography images of the beating heart and Magnetic Resonance Images of brain development (cortex folds). I will concentrate on the goals, methods of approach and opportunities for mathematical analysis in our recent work on image processing and analysis. Many types of mathematics apply in this problem, including soliton theory! Host: Beth Wingate |
