Supported by NSF and DOE, LSST is an extremely ambitious imaging sky survey, simultaneously providing large coverage, exceptional depth, and transient detection capabilities. The roughly 600 page LSST Science Book (http://arxiv.org/abs/0912.0201, about 230 authors) outlines the enormous scope of LSST's science mission ranging from studies of the solar system to the largest cosmological scales. In this talk I will (very quickly) cover LSST's basic capabilities and mode of operation and describe the salient features of LSST science, as discussed in more detail in the Science Book.
