Quantum Coherences in Photosynthetic Exciton Transport

Cesar Rodriguez-Rosario
Harvard University

Photosynthesis is one of the most important chemical reactions. How can energy transfer in photosynthetic complexes be so efficient? Recent experiments suggest that quantum effects might play a role here. We use theoretical techniques from quantum computation to analyze these experiment. We discuss how dephasing can be used as a resource to maximize the efficiency of excitonic transport and control.
