Two problems from combinatorial set theory are considered. The first is a generalization of the Erdos-Ko-Rado theorem. Here, we present a conjecture and give an interesting proof of some partial results towards the conjecture. The second combinatorial problem considered stems from computational biology and in particular an application of the equation free method to cell signaling systems. We give an introduction to this application of the equation free method and show how it raises our problem in combinatorial set theory. Host: Aric Hagberg, T-5, hagberg@lanl.gov |
