The last decade or so has witnessed impressive advances in our understanding of strongly interacting fermions, in particular for universal systems where interaction ranges are short and scattering lengths are large, and where scale and conformal invariance play a central role. These developments are propelled by experiment as well as theory, both of which are entering a stage in which accuracy and precision are essential. In this talk I will give an overview of the field, followed by some new results on perfect lattice actions and operators, with which systematic effects are removed before the calculations are even started.
