Towards a Unified View of Communication and Control

Sanjoy Mitter
Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Inference and Control are increasingly carried out in a networked environment where sensors, actuators and controllers are linked via communication channels. This requires a framework where sensing, communication and control problems can be conceptualized from a unified viewpoint. In this talk, I show how problems of determining feedback capacity can be solved using the theory of partially-observed stochastic control. The theory of partially-observed stochastic control will be covered in this lecture.
