Synchronization of an Array of Spin Torque Nano Oscillators

Muthusamy Lakshmanan
Centre for Nonlinear Dynamics, Bharathidasan University

The nonlinear dynamics underlying the evolution of spin torque transfer nano oscillators (STNOs) is of considerable physical and technological relevance. The dynamics is modelled by the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert-Slonczewski equation for the macro spins and the underlying system exhibits interesting bifurcation and chaos scenerio. For increasing the power output for practical purposes, there has been several suggestions to consider the collective dynamics of arrays/networks of STNOs with complex couplings, including delay, in order to achieve meaningful synchronization. In this talk, I will point out potentially new ways of achieving synchronization by the application of common periodically driven applied external magnetic field and the relationship with arrays of phase oscillators.
