This lecture will provide a friendly introduction to plasma laboratory astrophysics. Two different methods of designing laboratory experiments and relating them to astrophysical phenomena will be presented, and each illustrated with an example: the first an experiment studying astrophysical jets and the second an ongoing LANL experiment designed to produce astrophysically relevant collisionless shockwaves.
