The unavoidable presence of dust in fusion devices is recognized as a safety issue for the operation of thermonuclear reactors such as ITER. The transport of these micrometer-sized metallic particles involves many different physical processes, whose coupling is not well understood. The purpose of this talk is to provide an overview of some of the ongoing theoretical and experimental investigations aimed at improving the predictive power of numerical dust transport codes.
