NEW TIME: Efficient Low-Rank Approximation: Theory and Algorithm

Seyoung Yun
Microsoft Research, UK

NEW TIME: With the spread of smart devices (smartphones, tablets, laptops), social network services (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), and online services (Netflix, Amazon, Spotify), nowadays, many service providers are collecting a lot of data from users and devices, and manipulating the data so that they can enhance their service quality. This talk will introduce recent studies that design and analyze algorithms that learn hidden structures in huge amounts of data. This study has many other applications such as community detection in social networks, DNA microarray analysis in biological sciences, object recognition in material science.
