In recent decades, renewable energy has attracted growing interest among the world because of its sustainability and low impact to environment. At the same time, renewable resources like wind and solar bring to the power grid with high degree of uncertainty and volatility, which requires additional energy reserves to balance power supply and demand. Our work focuses on demand response, in which we investigate in the potential at consumer side by shifting power consumption according to power mismatch. Preliminary results based on modeling and control of air conditioners will be presented in this talk. Host: Jeffrey D. Hyman/Drew Gellar |
