This talk will cover recent advances in mixed-integer and convex optimization with applications in energy systems. We will start with a global vision on the role that optimization plays in energy systems, before diving into various elegant mathematical concepts. Key results include a characterization of the convex hull for quadratic on/off constraints, valid cuts for the optimal power flow problem and convex relaxations of the gas flow equations. Recent implementation of related decision-support tools will also be presented. Host: Pieter Swart/T-5 |
