Knowledge of DFT is not assumed, just familiarity with (first-quantized) many-body QM. A suitable convex analysis framework for the basic concepts will first be set up. Then, we will discuss recent results on the surprising subtlety of the Hohenberg-Kohn "theorem", and the reason Kohn-Sham iteration works. Host: Cristiano Nisoli
