Rural electric cooperatives serve the majority of the land mass of the United States of America. This large service territory, diverse environmental conditions, and consumer-owned economic structure lead to unique opportunities and challenges in grid modernization. This talk gives an overview of technology infrastructure, cost-benefit analysis approaches, and simulation tools that are in-use at these electric utilities. We will also discuss the research community these utilities have formed and advantages of working with smaller, non-profit utilities. Host: Russell Bent |
